Job summary

AdventHealth in Texas seeks a qualified RN for the Neonatal Labor & Delivery unit to provide newborn care during and after delivery. This full-time night position requires skilled neonatal resuscitation and careful assessment of obstetrical patients.

Candidates must have RN licensure with BLS/NRP certifications; 1+ L&D experience preferred. The role includes documenting care, assisting in the OR, sterilization, and family education.

Qualifications

• 1+ labor and delivery nursing experience preferred
• Associate degree in Nursing required

Responsibilities

• Assist with newborn care during and after delivery.
• Perform neonatal resuscitation as needed.
• Assess obstetrical patients to identify risks and report to physician.
• Report maternal/newborn issues promptly.
• Assist transfer of newborns to other facilities when indicated.
• Identify/match newborns and mothers to prevent mix-ups.
• Support L&D operating room with procedures and intra/post-anesthesia care.
• Perform sterilization of instruments and supplies.
• Provide emotional support to grieving families and connect with support groups.
• Educate families on newborn care and post-discharge care.

Job Description: This is a 7p Nights position

Assist with newborn care at deliveries, providing immediate care and support to newborns during and after delivery. Maintain skills in neonatal resuscitation to respond effectively in emergencies. Demonstrate assessment skills in high and low-risk obstetrical patients to identify potential risks and health issues. Identify and report maternal and newborn problems to the physician promptly. Assist with the transfer of newborns to other facilities when indicated, ensuring safe and efficient transfers. Accurately identify and band newborns, mothers, and significant others to prevent mix-ups. Document all care activities accurately, including band identification numbers in medical records. Provide care during obstetrical surgical procedures, assisting in the Labor & Delivery Operating Suite. Perform intraoperative and post-anesthesia care according to established standards. Conduct steam sterilization processing for instruments and supplies, ensuring all sterilization parameters are met. Provide emotional support for grieving parents, offering compassionate support and connecting them with appropriate support groups. Educate and support families about newborn care, health conditions, and post-discharge care.

Education:

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ labor and delivery nursing experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Required]
• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
• Neonatal Med Certification (NEONATAL MED) [Preferred]
