Job summary

Kettering Health Network Hamilton is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Night shift on a full-time basis to join the KH Hamilton team. The RN will deliver patient-centered care using the nursing process in collaboration with other clinicians, ensuring safety, patient advocacy, and adherence to standards.

The ideal candidate will hold Ohio RN licensure, have BLS and ICU/ACLS/NRP/PALS per unit scope, and demonstrate strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (completed within 5 years).
• Ohio RN licensure in good standing with current practice rights.
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications as required by the unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process in collaboration with the care team.
• Document patient care and medications accurately in the EMR.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
• Delegate tasks according to the patient plan and staff skill level.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers. The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law. Utilizing organizational resources the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities. The delivery of nursing care within the Kettering Health Network reflects the missions, vision, values and philosophies, of the organization and nursing departments.And performs other duties as assigned.The Registered Nurse reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (NLN or CCNE)Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred (must be completed within 5 years of hire) If hired after June of 2010 at KMCS, all other KHN facilities after Jan 2011.A nurse who is returning to the acute care setting after five or more years may be required to provide evidence of successful completion of a refresher course

Essential Functions

• Responsive to coaching to correct risky behaviors and applies learning to next situation
• Demonstrates nursing clinical skills necessary to make pertinent and accurate assessments of the physical, psychological, spiritual and educational needs of the patient
• Analyses collected data to establish and prioritize a list of actual and potential individualized age specific patient problems and/or needs
• Develops a plan of care based on patient assessment, diagnosis and co-morbidities
• Implements the plan of care and executes interventions provide safe quality care based on assessed needs, established standards of care.
• Evaluates and modifies the care plan based on patient response
• Appropriate delegation based on the patient’s care plan and skill level of the personnel.
• Timely documents in the electronic medical record or the appropriate venue. Documentation reflects nursing care, patient response and associated pertinent information related to the care of the patient.
• Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
• Identifies and responds appropriately to emergency situations
• Verifies current patient medications and completes reconciliation documentation.
• Safely administers medications utilizing the “five rights”.
• Consistently informs patients when new medications are ordered, informs patients of the implications and possible side effects of these medications*
• Aware of population specific quality indicators; practice reflects actions that support core measures.
• Behavioral choices align with safe practice standards
