Job summary

Oro Valley Hospital in Arizona is seeking a Full Time Night Shift Registered Nurse for the ICU. The RN will care for critically ill adults requiring life support, plan and direct patient care, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

The role emphasizes adherence to nursing protocols, patient safety, and education for patients and families. Experience in ICU settings and current RN licensure are preferred.

• Administer prescribed medications, monitor for side effects, and document administration.
• Assist physicians during procedures within the scope of documented competency and skill level.

• Respond to medical emergencies and participate in life-saving interventions such as CPR and code team activities.
• Advocate for patients’ rights and needs in care planning and delivery.
• Provide patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
• Implement and adhere to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of healthcare-associated infections.
• Monitor and operate medical equipment such as IV pumps, monitors, and ventilators as needed.
• Promote patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Participate in audits, chart reviews, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to standards and regulations.
• Demonstrate responsible decision-making in planning, delegating, and providing care based on patient needs.
• Document patient care and education thoroughly and promptly in the medical record.
• Engage in professional development to maintain clinical competency and current nursing standards.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives, including data collection and process development.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including intravenous medications and therapies.
• Manage complex medical equipment, including ventilators, monitoring devices, and life-support systems.
• Perform procedures such as inserting central lines, managing tracheostomies, and providing advanced cardiac life support.

Job Summary

The ICU patient population consists of critically ill adults who may require life support. These patients can be medical or cardiovascular in nature, requiring intensive care trained RN's. The RN plans, directs, participates in and evaluates patient care, and collaborates with other disciplines to provide optimal care in the Intensive Care Unit.
