Job summary

Care Hospice is seeking a Program Director Specialist RN to stabilize, lead, and enhance multiple hospice programs. The role supports growth, system implementations, and leadership transitions while ensuring Medicare/Medicaid compliance.

The position requires OH & IL RN licensure, Travel at least 80% of time, and collaboration with senior leadership to improve operations and care quality. Comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, health care, or business administration preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in health care management, home health, hospice, or related health programs.
  • 2 years of hospice experience with knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
  • Operations and/or Sales Leadership experience required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships within communities and the company.
  • Experience in process analysis, improvement planning, and change management.

Responsibilities

  • Stabilize, strengthen, and support hospice programs during growth or transitions.
  • Partner with Program Directors to improve operations and program performance.
  • Champion regulatory compliance and quality standards for patient-centered care.

Overview

The Program Director Specialist RN is a dynamic, enterprise-level leader who provides operational, regulatory, and administrative support across multiple hospice programs. This role serves as a flexible resource to stabilize operations, ensure compliance, support growth initiatives, and guide teams through transitions such as leadership changes, system implementations, or special projects.

Working under the general direction of senior leadership, the Program Director Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory compliance with hospice and Medicare/Medicaid requirements while strengthening operational performance and continuity of care across assigned programs. Must be willing to travel and spend at least 80% of time in assigned locations.

Responsibilities
  • Step in as a trusted operational leader to stabilize, strengthen, and support hospice programs during periods of growth or transition
  • Partner with Program Directors and leadership teams to enhance daily operations, workflows, and overall program performance
  • Champion regulatory compliance and quality standards to ensure exceptional, patient-centered end-of-life care
  • Guide and support leaders and staff through onboarding, education, and change initiatives, including new systems and processes
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to ensure consistency, accuracy, and excellence across policies, procedures, and practices
  • Contribute to quality improvement and QAPI initiatives that drive meaningful outcomes for patients and families
  • Provide strategic insight to senior leadership on staffing, resources, and opportunities to strengthen programs and services
  • Collaborate across teams and communities to support program development, referral relationships, and the hospice mission
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, health care, or business administration preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in health care management, home health, hospice, or related health programs required.
  • Two (2) years of hospice experience required with intimate knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and Department of Aging and Disability Services regulations.
  • Operations and/or Sales Leadership experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships in the communities served as well as within a company.
  • Skilled at establishing/maintaining working relationships with key staff, marketing contacts, and clinical staff to ensure the thorough understanding of Hospice Mission and services.
  • Experience in analyzing processes, improvement planning, supporting change, and effectively managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is an accordance with state and organizational requirements and is in good working order.
  • Must be willing to travel and spend at least 80% of time in assigned locations.

$126,000 - $141,000 per year (Average Pay Range). The pay range listed represents a general guideline for the role and is not a guarantee of the final offer. Compensation will be determined based based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience and the specific responsibilities of the position. Final compensation rate will be discussed and confirmed at the conclusion of the interview process.
