Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse Health Facilities Surveyor to inspect licensed health care facilities and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The role includes surveying patient activities, infection control, resident rights, and the physical environment, with travel across SD.

Work-from-home is available up to 3 days per week after a 6-month probation; in-office days occur at Rapid City, Pierre, Mitchell, or Sioux Falls locations.

Qualifications

• Must hold a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) eligible to practice in SD.
• Training for the survey process via CMS online courses and precepted surveys.
• Travel for surveys is required and will involve overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Survey patient activities, dietary, infection control, resident rights, and the physical environment.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for protection of health and safety in licensed facilities.
