Job summary

Bothwell Regional Health Center is seeking an RN/GN to provide population-specific nursing care from newborn to age 105. The role includes assessing, evaluating and addressing patient needs, and reporting to the Charge Nurse/Assistant Director/Director of Perioperative Services.

The nurse will follow standards of care, participate in teamwork, and ensure accurate documentation and teaching before and after procedures, while maintaining patient safety and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
  • Must have a valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of SDS/PACU/Endo needs and tasks including assessments and obtaining patient history.
  • Holds staff accountable for performance and continuous improvement of patient care.
  • Ensures compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and effective communication to provide continuity of care.
  • Completes clinical procedures, documentation and patient education before and after surgery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

The RN / GN must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care from newborn through age 105. He/she must have the ability to assess, evaluate, identify, and interpret the requirement and needs of the patients and perform based on those findings.

The RN / GN reports directly to Charge Nurse/Assistant Director/Director of Perioperative Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
  • Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
  • PALS certification required if working PACU.
  • ACLS certification if caring for patients having procedures with sedation.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Prefer one year experience as medical/surgical staff nurse.
  • Successful completion of hospital orientation.
  • Membership in professional organization desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
  • Demonstrates the knowledge of needs and task for SDS/PACU/Endo such as assessments, obtaining patient history, critical thinking skills, notifying physician as needed, specimens, handwashing, etc.
  • Holds self and other staff members accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patient in his/her work area and throughout the hospital.
  • Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care.
  • Demonstrates teamwork through communication, cooperation, coordination, and conflict resolution with others and implementing multidisciplinary actions to provide continuity of care.
  • Ensures the satisfactory completion of clinical procedures, documentation, educational and procedural teaching of the patient and their significant other/parent before and after surgery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Direct patient contact, possible exposure to infections, communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens.

  • Handles emergency or crisis situations.
  • Occasionally subjected to irregular hours.
  • Subjected to frequent interruptions.
  • Comply with ADA guidelines.
  • On call response time as dictated per unit policy.
