Job summary

Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, MO is seeking a Cardiac Med Intermediate RN/GN for the night shift (36 hours per week). You will provide skilled nursing on a fast-paced PCU, focusing on cardiac and respiratory patients, with no vents and high-flow needs.

A premium night shift sign-on bonus applies: $10,000 for graduates and $13,000 for experienced RNs. Graduate or experienced RNs must hold an RN license in Missouri (compact license acceptable) and complete BASIC LIFE SUPPORT.

Qualifications

• Graduate Nurse or Experienced RN role on a fast-paced Cardiac/PCU unit.
• Must hold RN license in Missouri and maintain it in good standing.
• BLS required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes nursing process to provide patient care.
• Evaluates care effectiveness of direct care givers.
• Coordinates patient care with other departments; protects patient rights and confidentiality.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. We are also known as the Progressive Care Unit or PCU. Our unit is an intermediate unit that is a step down from our intensive care but a step above med/surg as far as patient acuity

Cardiac, Respiratory distress, Septic.

No vents. - Mainly serve cardiac patients, also acute respiratory (no vents/but high flow ) 02 needs/new bipap, etc. then mix of any other disease process in which the physicians determine patient is too sick for floor; but not yet ICU level of care.

Fast paced unit combining aspects of ED and ICU into one department--busyness of ED & critical care aspect of ICU.

Requires and builds strong assessment skills and teamwork

Qualifications:

Education:

Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure:

Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
