Job summary

Summa Health System – Barberton Campus is seeking an RN for the 4S Medical Surgical/Telemetry Unit. You will deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult patients on a 24-bed unit with telemetry monitoring and progressive care needs.

Expect 36 hours/week, 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., every other weekend and holiday. ACLS certification is required within six months, with strong mentorship and supportive teamwork. Competitive pay and benefits accompany a residency program for new graduates.

Qualifications

  • RN license in Ohio required.
  • Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred.
  • Current nursing program accreditation by CCNE or ACEN.
  • PRN RNs must have at least one year of recent experience in the area of practice.

RN – 4S Medical Surgical/Telemetry Unit

Primary Patient Population

The 4S Medical Surgical/Telemetry Unit provides specialized care for adult patients requiring continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring and treatment for complex medical conditions. Nurses on this unit care for patients with cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neurovascular diagnoses, including those requiring progressive care-level treatment plans. This is an excellent opportunity to build advanced assessment, telemetry interpretation, and clinical decision‑making skills while caring for a diverse, higher-acuity medical population.

1:6 (subject to change based on census and patient care needs)

Summary

Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho-social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health.

Formal Education Required
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required, BSN preferred
  • Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
  • Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
Experience And Training Required
  • PRN RN’s must have at least one‑year recent experience in the area of practice.
  • One year of related RN experience is required for weekend option positions.
  • Additional related previous experience and/or preparation maybe required for specialty units.
Other Skills, Competencies And Qualifications
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Requires exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment, such as risk of falls, strains, etc.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support certification; All nurses new to critical care, progressive care, medical telemetry, PACU, and ED must successfully complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support within the first six months and maintain current card. Experienced RNs hired into areas requiring ACLS are expected to have an ACLS certification upon hire or must be completed within six weeks of hire.
