Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans is seeking a dedicated float pool nurse to join our in-house staffing team. As a full-time nurse, you’ll travel to where care is needed, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care according to standards and policies, while building trust with the care team.

You’ll adapt to varied settings, maintain patient safety, and communicate changes and education to patients and families.

Qualifications

  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year professional nursing experience.

Responsibilities

Your Everyday Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate all care touchpoints for your patients performing priority technical procedures as assigned. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care. Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone. Monitor and engage with your patients, families, and appropriate care team members concerning significant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns.

Maintain a safe environment for everyone and demonstrate compliance with all state and federal regulatory and accrediting agencies (i.e. patient safety, infection control, HIPAA, etc.) and adhere to LCMC Health’s policies and procedures. Monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements. Prevent and treat wounds.

Perform proper hand‑off while identifying and communicating problems to ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.

Communicate information, data, significant events to appropriate care team members or supervisors, including current or changes in patient condition/status, laboratory/diagnostic data, intake and output, nutrition needs, patient needs, assessment findings, changes of shift reporting, unit problems, patient/family/physician team member complaints, defective equipment and supply usage.

Keep patients informed and initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services. Contribute to the team by assistingothers without being asked. Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform tasks effectively, safely, or independently.

The Must‑Haves Minimum

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Current American Heart Association BLS certification. 1 year of professional nursing experience.
