Job summary

SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital – Shawnee seeks an experienced RN First Assistant to provide direct surgical support before, during, and after procedures.

Requirements include RN licensure with two years in an advanced surgical specialty, RNFA education per AORN standards or equivalency, and CNOR certification as applicable by state. This position is based in Shawnee, OK with a 40-hour work week and full-time status.

Qualifications

• Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards for RN first assistant education program or RNFA education equivalency for CRNFA.
• Two years’ RN experience in an advanced surgical specialty.

Responsibilities

• Positions patient to provide best exposure for surgical procedure with stabilizing equipment as needed.
• Assists with visualization of operative site and tissue manipulation, retraction, suction, and irrigation.
• Assists with hemostasis.
• Aids in wound closure, dressings, and drainage systems.
• Delivers nursing care based on patient age and clinical needs per department scope of service.
