Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital, part of Universal Health Services, Inc., is seeking an Endoscopy Registered Nurse to deliver specialized nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. You will perform pre-procedure assessments, assist during procedures, and provide post-procedure recovery teaching in a fast-paced setting.

Ideal candidates will hold an active DC or compact RN license, with at least 1 year of acute care experience and current BLS/ACLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Current RN license (DC or compact, must have by start date).
• Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-procedure assessments and patient education.
• Administer medications and moderate sedation per protocol.
• Monitor patient condition throughout procedures, responding promptly to changes.
• Provide recovery and discharge teaching to patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians and team members to optimize workflow and patient safety.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards and hospital policies.

We are currently seeking:

The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. This role involves pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedure support, and post-procedure recovery care. The RN collaborates with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced procedural setting.
