Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles (MLKCH) seeks a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department, full-time nights. The Clinical Staff Nurse will organize, plan, direct, coordinate and provide high-quality patient-centered care according to the Watson Model of Care.

The ideal candidate holds a California RN license, at least 1 year ED experience, and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred; EMR experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required or equivalent.
• California RN license is required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year ED nursing experience.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications current.
• Spanish bilingual skills preferred; basic computer skills needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, individualized patient and family centered care.
• Organize, plan, direct and coordinate patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Report to the Clinical Unit Supervisor and supervise 12-hour shifts.
• Apply the Watson Model of Care to patient care and outcomes.

Job Description

The Clinical Staff Nurse is a skilled and experienced professional Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for excellence in the clinical practice of nursing and the management of patient care. Reporting to the Clinical Unit Supervisor of the Emergency Department, the Clinical Staff Nurse has 12 hour accountability for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality, individualized patient/family centered care based on the Watson Model of Care for a defined group of patients, including the identification and demonstration of abilities to meet special needs and considerations of Age and Population Specific awareness.

Qualifications

• Education
• Associate in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent.
• Bachelor of Sciences degree in nursing preferred.
• Qualifications/Experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in Emergency Department nursing.
• Current California Nursing license. Basic EKG Competence Certification in Emergency Department Nursing preferred.
• Special Skills/Knowledge
• Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
• Basic computer skills
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Must complete annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate, per hospital policy, during initial training/orientation but not to exceed 30 days from hire/transfer.
• Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
