Ochsner Health in Bay St. Louis, MS is seeking a registered nurse to lead patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act. You will delegate and guide licensed and ancillary team members and uphold standards to achieve quality outcomes.

You will perform duties with attention to diversity, safety, and compliance, maintain professional responsibility, and participate in ongoing education while supporting the department's strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Current RN license in state of practice is required.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • CPI certification within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire.
  • PALS within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to work in a diverse patient population.

This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. Effectively delegates, directs and assists licensed and ancillary team members. Assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes, exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions, and maintains involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and the department’s strategic goals and objectives. Demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice and supports the company's philosophy of nursing.

Education

Required - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Work Experience

Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Required - None.

Certifications
  • Required - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.
Preferred - Certification In Clinical Specialty Area
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
