Job summary

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center is seeking a dedicated RN for the Emergency Department. The role covers patient care from birth to discharge, with collaboration among ED providers, nurses, paramedics and support staff to deliver rapid, high-quality care in a 38-bed ED serving about 160 patients daily.

Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, planning and executing individualized care plans, documenting accurately, and ensuring patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a recognized nursing program; RN license in Georgia required.
  • New graduates eligible; hospital experience preferred.
  • 1 year hospital experience for PRN positions preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments across the lifecycle and document data.
  • Plan and organize care; develop and adjust the care plan as needed.
  • Carry out the care plan and provide nursing care suited to patient needs.
  • Oversee activities of support staff and ensure coordinated care.
  • Identify teaching opportunities and provide patient education resources.
  • Communicate issues to the Charge Nurse/Clinical Manager/physician.
  • Document patient care actions and concerns in the chart.

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center- Emergency Dept

  • We are looking for positive, self-motivated, engaged and excited for growth individuals to join our team
  • 38 bed Emergency Department that sees on average 160 patients a day that present with various acuities.
  • We are a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility that is able to intervene and administer thrombolytics.
  • Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization
  • We have 5 PODs in our department, depending on acuity, is where the patient will be assigned
  • Behavioral Health Pod
  • We have Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care
  • All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit
Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBLE FOR: The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • 1. Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient's physical, psychosocial and health history.
  • 2. Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
  • 3. Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • 4. Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • 5. Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
  • 6. Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • 7. Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
  • 8. Communications issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
  • 9. Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.

Qualifications:
Education
  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Work Experience
  • No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNCL Multistate License. Required and

  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)

  • Cardiac Tele:Additional Required Certifications:ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days Required
  • Critical Care:Additional Required Certifications:ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days Required
  • Dialysis:Additional Required Certifications:CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred Preferred
  • Emergency Department:Additional Required Certifications:ACLS and PALS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date)Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certification. within 180 Days Required
