Job summary

Cook Children's Medical Center - Prosper is seeking an RN Staff DU for the Emergency Dept. This role focuses on delivering patient-centered nursing care in a 22-bed ED with trauma designation ambitions.

Night shift hours are 7pm–7am, with 36 hours per week and an emphasis on teamwork, safety, and high service standards in a fast-paced environment. The position requires 1 year of direct nursing experience, an Associate's in Nursing, and an active Texas RN license with BLS.

Qualifications

• 1 year of direct nursing experience.
• Active, unrestricted TX RN license.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• PALS or NRP and unit-specific certifications post hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver competent nursing care to patients and families by using the nursing process within the unit.
• Collaborate with the Emergency Dept team to ensure safety, clinical excellence, and effective communication.
• Advocate for patients and contribute to the unit's workflow and patient-centered care.

Summary: The RN, Staff DU (Designated Unit) is responsible for delivering competent, individualized nursing care to patients and families by utilizing the nursing process to augment the established medical plan of treatment within a specific clinical unit. Operating with a strong team orientation, this nurse integrates sound clinical judgment and evidence-based decision-making to address the unique needs and acuity of the unit's patient population. The role emphasizes exceptional customer relations and professional communication, ensuring that care is delivered with both clinical precision and a high level of service excellence. By maintaining a focus on safety and collaborative practice, the RN Staff DU serves as a vital advocate for the patient while contributing to the overall effectiveness and specialized workflows of the designated clinical team.

Our Prosper Emergency Department is a 22-bed ED with 2 critical care designated rooms. We are currently in pursuit of trauma level III designation! This team will have many unique opportunities for their employees to advance their career as we grow our Prosper facility!

Shift: 7p - 7a Critical Care and/or ED experience preferred.

Required Education/Experience: 1 year of direct nursing experience. Associate's in Nursing. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Active, unrestricted TX Registered Nurse (RN) license. BLS - American Heart Association.

Post hire Requirements: PALS or NRP and specialty certifications per unit guidelines.
