Job summary

Curry Health Network is seeking an ED RN to provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department under supervision. The role requires rapid, accurate response to changes in patient condition and treatment needs.

The ideal candidate holds an Oregon RN license (BSN preferred) with current BLS/ACLS/PALS (or ENPC) and TNCC/ATCN within 6 months. One year of acute care, preferably ED experience, is required.

Qualifications

  • Oregon State Registered Nurse Licensure; BSN preferred.
  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC), and NIHSS are required; TNCC or ATCN within 6 months; NRP Advanced and STABLE certifications optional or as applicable.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an Acute Care setting; ED experience preferred.
  • Computer skills using MS Office; EMR documentation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments considering age-specific standards of care.
  • Apply the ESI Triage Scale to determine acuity.
  • Formulate and implement care plans and coordinate referrals.
  • Administer medications with knowledge of indications and contraindications.
  • Provide patient and family teaching and document care per standards.
  • Maintain compliance with Policies, Procedures, and Protocols.

Compensation Range: $44.89 - $67.90/hour

  • Compensation is based on experience, with a range reflecting entry-level candidates through those with 15+ years of experience. Eligible positions may also qualify for additional compensation through our Clinical Nursing Ladder Program and applicable shift, weekend, certification, or other differentials.

Additional Compensation Opportunities

  • Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM-7:00 AM): +$3.50/hour | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday-11:59 PM Sunday): +$3.00/hour
  • Non-Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM-7:00 AM): +$3.00/hour | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday-11:59 PM Sunday): +$2.00/hour

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the House Supervisor or department director, the ED RN provides direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department setting. Must respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or responses to treatment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform patient assessments considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age. Uses appropriate screening tools effectively. Applies the ESI Triage Scale to determine patient's acuity.

Demonstrates understanding of pathophysiology, disease processes, and treatment standards. Applies nursing diagnoses to identified needs.

Formulates a care plan based upon identified needs and facilitates interventions and referrals as appropriate.

Performs interventions in a competent manner, applying evidence-based standards of care and protocols to guide actions. Knowledgeable regarding medications, indications, interactions, and contraindications, considering age of the patient and their clinical condition. Evaluates effectiveness of all interventions.

Formulates individualized teaching plans, evaluating effectiveness of learning. Patient and family interactions are professional.

Familiar with Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. Care and Documentation meets current standards of practice and complies with all such guidelines.

Other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with Curry Health Network's Mission, Vision, and Shared Values.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Current Unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse Licensure is BSN Preferred.
  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC), and NIHSS are required. TNCC (Emergency Nurse Association) or ATCN are required within 6 months; NRP Advanced (American Heart Association) and STABLE certifications are
