POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for addressing staff competency and implementing effective, unit specific staff education strategies. Responsible for the evaluation of unit specific educational needs and delivery of education to develop and enhance professional performance and skills within the specialty area. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates all overall clinical education and administrative activities; including fiscal, material and human resource management. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures. Maintains open communication with licensed and non-licensed pediatric as well as ancillary department staff that provide pediatric services to promote improvement in performance. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities.

B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
