Job summary

Medical City Frisco is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on a PRN basis, with day shifts. The RN coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care per department standards and in collaboration with the care team.

You will assess pain, perform procedures, document care, teach patients and families, and support self-management after discharge while upholding the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• 1 years experience Required Years of Experience

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
