Job summary

Qualifications

  • RN license to practice in California required.
  • BLS certification for Healthcare Providers required.
  • National specialty certification applicable to ECMO practice required.
  • Minimum 6 months of open-heart or cardiothoracic surgical experience.
  • Critical care experience with at least 2 years of ECMO experience.
  • CCRNs or CES-A credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operational and clinical ECMO program management across CHS locations.
  • Coordinate cannulation through decannulation and ensure evidence-based ECMO care.
  • Lead education, quality reporting, staffing readiness, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
The ECMO Coordinator provides day-to-day operational and clinical oversight of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO/ECLS) Program across Community Health System (CHS) including Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC), Clovis Community Medical Center (CCMC) and Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital (FHSH). This role ensures safe, evidence-based ECMO care across the continuum—from cannulation through decannulation—while maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.The ECMO Coordinator leads ECMO education and competency validation, supports quality and data reporting, oversees equipment and staffing readiness, and functions as a clinical expert and ECMO Specialist when required to meet patient care and staffing needs. This position works closely with physicians, surgeons, perfusionists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary critical care teams across all ECMO sites.operational challenges.
Qualifications
Education
  • o High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or CHS-approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required.
  • Required (one of the following):
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a healthcare-related field. Healthcare-related degrees may require approval by nursing executive leadership.
  • National specialty certification applicable to nursing or ECMO practice
Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months of open-heart or cardiothoracic surgical experience
  • Critical care experience required, including a minimum of two (2) years of ECMO experience
Licenses and Certifications
  • o RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California requiredo BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) requiredo NATIONAL - National Certification related to specialty and applicable to role (if qualifying with this option) required
One of the following is preferred:
  • o CCRN - Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse
  • o CES-A - Adult Certified ECMO Specialist
