Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Nurse Manager to cover Perioperative services, including sports medicine, orthopedics, joint, spine, gynecology, pediatric dental and general surgical cases.

This Director of Nursing role provides 24-hour administrative leadership for the defined units, guiding clinical operations, budgeting, and collaboration with Medical Staff and other departments to uphold the organization’s mission and standards.

Qualifications

• BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• Prior Clinical Nursing Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager Experience required.
• Active MD RN License or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee one or more defined units/departments of organized nursing and patient care services.
• Assume 24-hour administrative and leadership authority for management and direction of operational personnel and financial activities.
• Coordinate with nursing leadership, Medical Staff and other departments to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and MedStar Health values.

Key Responsibilities

As a Director of Nursing, you will be a member of MedStar Health entity-based Division of Nursing's (DON) leadership/management team and is responsible for one or more defined units/departments of organized nursing and patient care services. You will assume 24-hour administrative and leadership authority and responsibility for the management and direction of the operational personnel and financial activities of the specified units/departments. Coordinates these functions in partnership with the nursing leadership team Medical Staff and leaders of other departments/disciplines and ensures they are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Health and entity's mission vision and values.
