Job summary

Austin Oaks Hospital in South Austin, Texas is seeking a Registered Nurse to implement and evaluate patient care on the Adult/Adolescent/Geriatric units, supervise nursing staff, and support leadership.

The RN will participate in admissions, assessments, medication administration, crisis interventions, discharge planning, and patient education, working within an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, compassionate care and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
• One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications which can be obtained during orientation.
• Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as a nationwide background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• State and Federal Office of the Inspector General check.

Responsibilities

• Completes patient admissions process, including nursing assessment.
• Documents ongoing patient assessments/progress clearly and concisely as required by hospital and regulatory agency standards.
• Medication management – administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
• Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Provides milieu management and unit team leadership.
• Provides appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
• Reports unsafe conditions.
• Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions.
• Provides health education to patients and their families.
• Prepares and adheres to facility patient discharge process.

Position Summary
