Job summary

Texas Department of Criminal Justice seeks a professional nurse to provide responsible nursing care in a unit. The role includes care and treatment of patients per nursing standards and supervision of clinic staff.

Work occurs under correctional clinic conditions with high interaction among patients, clinic personnel, and outside professionals. Current Texas RN license or transfer, and NCLEX-RN on first attempt for new grads are required.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Texas or ability to transfer; or pending nursing program completion within 120 days.
• Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.
• New graduates must pass NCLEX-RN on the first attempt.

Responsibilities

• Provide responsible professional nursing care per accepted standards.
• Supervise subordinate clinic personnel.
• Work under correctional clinic conditions with high patient contact and collaboration with outside professionals.
