Job summary

Reliant Medical Group, part of the Optum family, seeks an experienced nurse to lead clinical trial projects from initiation to follow-up. You will supervise research staff, coordinate with investigators and sponsors, and perform essential study procedures including recruitment, consent, vitals, and data collection.

The role requires MA RN licensure and 3+ years of related experience, with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure SOP adherence and smooth trial

Qualifications

  • RN license in Massachusetts is required.
  • 3+ years of relevant clinical research experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage clinical trials and supervise research staff.
  • Explain protocol criteria in clear terms to investigators and staff.
  • Coordinate study activities across departments and sponsor
  • Perform study procedures: recruitment, informed consent, vital signs, and data collection.
  • Ensure SOP compliance and assist in protocol development/evaluation.
  • Handle sponsor communications and regulatory documentation.
  • Identify and address performance gaps and billing issues.

This position is responsible for the overall management of individual research projects from pre-study inquiries to post-study follow-up and related duties.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Management of clinical trials. Manages, supervises, and trains other research nurses, research assistants, and other support staff. Explains protocol criteria in terms easily understood
  • Acts as the key liaison with physician investigator or others
  • Manages required study activities with other departments. Identifies and resolves issues as required
  • Assesses organizational processes, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and identifies ways to improve procedures. Creates and maintains departmental SOPs as appropriate
  • Meets with sponsor representatives to evaluate study feasibility and site appropriateness
  • Attends research protocol development or evaluation meetings as required by the sponsor or principal investigator
  • Ensures inquiries from patients, sponsors, physicians, and staff are appropriately routed
  • Executes IRB approved research protocols. Performs study-related procedures including, but not limited to, patient recruitment, informed consent, physical assessment, medical history, vital signs, administration of study medication, preparation and handling of laboratory specimens, identification of adverse events, and collection of all required data
  • Assesses performance of ongoing clinical trials and develops action plan to address performance gaps
  • Attends a variety of meetings with sponsor, investigator, or regarding patient needs. May conduct home visits to treat patients
  • Interfaces with pharmaceutical monitors, FDA and other regulatory agencies. Documents to meet federal standards
  • Act as liaison between sponsor, investigator, patient, IRB, SVH, and other clinical departments
  • Notifies research director or others of unexpected circumstances that affect study performance and/or budget
  • Resolves billing issues (sponsor payments, patient billing issues, reimbursement issues)

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Currently licensed as a RN in the State of Massachusetts and 3+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Proven excellent time management and problem-solving skills, as well as solid attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to manage challenges and conflicts within multiple assignments

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 - $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
