Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in Texas is seeking a Charge Nurse with a BSN to lead a nursing team on a 12X3 Night shift. Requires a Texas RN license or compact license and completion of charge nurse training within 90 days if external.

Applicants should hold BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications, and pursue a CCRN/CEN/RNC or equivalent within 2 years. Strong clinical leadership and patient-flow coordination are essential.

Qualifications

• BSN is required.
• Texas RN license or compact license is required.
• Charge nurse training and competencies must be completed within 90 days if external hire.
• Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, NRP, etc. certifications are required where RN requirements apply.
• Advanced Specialty Certification (CCRN, CEN, RNC, etc.) is preferred or to be obtained within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Provides front line leadership and decision-making for departmental staff, ensuring quality and integrity of care.
• Develops staffing plan based on patient acuity and oversees day-to-day operations on the shift.
• Monitors workflow and adjusts staffing to support unit fiscal goals.
• Coordinates efficient patient flow, including admissions pull and timely discharges.
• Assists the manager in achieving department and organizational objectives including patient experience and quality measures.
• Participates in department initiatives and process improvements.
• Participates in peer interviews and provides feedback for evaluations.
• Assists with occurrence investigations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Your Job Responsibilities:

• Provides front line leadership and decision-making for departmental staff, ensuring the quality and integrity of care delivered.
• Develops plan for unit staffing based on patient acuity/care needs and oversees day to day operations on the designated shift.
• Monitors workflow and adjusts staffing accordingly to support fiscal goals of the unit.
• Coordinates and facilitates efficient patient flow for the unit. Ensures timely and efficient pull of patients being admitted to the unit as well as timeliness of discharging patients from the unit.
• Assists the manager in achieving and sustaining department and organizational objectives including but not limited to patient experience, length of stay, and unit/patient specific quality measures.
• Participates in department specific initiatives and process improvement projects.
• Participates in peer interviews and provide feedback for employee evaluations as requested by manager.
• Assists with occurrence investigations.
• Other duties as assigned.
