Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is seeking a Medical Surgical Clinical Supervisor to lead nursing teams on the night shift and ensure safe, high-quality, cost-effective patient care. This leadership role focuses on staffing, workflow optimization, and staff development within a compassionate, mission-driven environment.

You will mentor clinicians, collaborate with physicians and administrators, and drive continuous improvement while upholding Mercy’s standards and values.

Qualifications

• RN license in MO or compact license.
• 3–5 years hospital nursing experience.
• BLS certification required or within 30 days of hire.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support nurses and other caregivers to deliver exceptional patient care.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels and coordinate bed management with Staffing Office.
• Use resources to meet productivity and financial goals.

Location:

Mercy Hospital South – 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128

Schedule:

Full-Time | 36 hours/week | Monday–Thursday (4×9 hr. shifts)

Shift:

Nights | 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM

• Lead and support competent, compassionate co‑workers in delivering exceptional patient care.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels and collaborate closely with the Staffing Office on patient flow and bed management.
• Use resources efficiently to meet productivity and financial goals.
• Partner with clinical leadership, physicians, and administrative teams to enhance workflows and improve processes across the continuum of care.
• Inspire and model a shared vision—encouraging change, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor, guide, and empower co‑workers to become leaders of change within the organization.
• Provide meaningful recognition and foster a positive, engaging team culture through servant leadership.

QualificationsEducation:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:

Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:

3-5 years of hospital nursing experience

Certifications:Required:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred QualificationsEducation:

BSN preferred

Licensure:

Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred

Experience:

Prior management experience - experience within change management

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
