The Clinical Program Coordinator will support a clinical and research program as part of a subspecialty clinic in the Heart Center. The coordinator will be responsible for communication about the program within Children's National, affiliated institutions, healthcare professionals (primary care physicians, subspecialty pediatricians, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals involved in childhood disease care or preventive health), patient organizations, policymakers, scientific conferences, healthcare insurance companies, schools, sports clubs, etc.
The primary responsibility of the coordinator is to provide clinical supervision of the program. This includes programming baseline assessment exams, compiling results, participating in prescription decision-making with clinic physicians, discussing enrollment with patients and families, explaining interventions, and referring patients to tailored programs. The coordinator will also manage all components of the program on the digital platform used by the clinic.
The coordinator leads the 'patient education' component, including selecting educational content and tools, delivering education, leading training of healthcare professionals in the program, and participating in accreditation processes.
Additionally, the coordinator will complete hospital and nursing orientation at CNMC, coordinate nursing care for patients and families via various communication methods, and consult with healthcare providers to resolve health concerns. All nursing practices will adhere to legal, professional, and institutional standards.
