The nurse in this role utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) to coordinate, delegate and provide safe therapeutic nursing care to adult patients throughout the Medical Center. The nurse in this role will assess and evaluate patients in collaboration with the bedside nurse, the first call LIP and a respiratory therapist. He/she also collaborates with other disciplines and providers to coordinate continuity of patient care. Duties for this nurse position may include but are not limited to moderate sedation, clinical support during crisis interventions, ultrasound guided IV placement, assisting with the transport of critical care patients for diagnostic procedures, and as the needs or services of this campus continue to develop and grow, the scope and duties of this position may also.
Promoting effective team interactions, facilitating timely patient assessment and disposition/transfer and completing accurate documentation of all events are important functions in this role. The ability to apply critical care nursing skills to a broad range of clinical issues, handle multiple complex situations simultaneously and communicate in an effective, professional manner is essential.
