Full Time | PM/N Shift | 7pm-7:30am | Sign-On Bonus: $20,000

Job Summary

Provides operational shift oversight, delegates care to staff, and facilitates timely patient admission, transfer, and discharge. Provides ongoing leadership, support, and guidance to all staff while presenting a positive image and attitude. Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process and collaborating with other healthcare team members. Uses a systematic critical‑thinking approach to guide data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, intervention, and evaluation of human responses to actual and potential health problems through activities such as health teaching, supportive care, restorative care, or support of a peaceful death. All responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the mission, vision, strategic imperatives, and standards of Lexington Medical Center (LMC), the American Nurses Association Standards, and the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in relevant specialty areas within the past 5 years.
• Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): Consideration will be given to those with an ADN or Diploma who are presently enrolled in an RN‑to‑BS or RN‑to‑MS program and will complete the degree within 12 months of hire.
• Licensure: Current RN license to practice in South Carolina.
• Required Certifications: National nursing certification in specialty at time of hire or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Training: None required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborates with instructors from affiliated agencies to assure continuity of patient care and learning.
• Provides feedback on unit operations and employee performance to the Nurse Manager.
• Serves as a resource and role model for professional patient care.
• Recognizes and responds appropriately to complex situations.
• Participates in patient‑care conferences and discharge planning conferences.
• Coordinates timely patient throughput and facilitates smooth transitions of care.
• Negotiates for nursing resources to meet patient care needs.
• Ensures patient care assignments reflect acuity and skill level.
• Ensures equipment operation by completing maintenance, troubleshooting, and reporting repairs.
• Appropriately utilizes nursing supplies and equipment.
• Maintains effective teamwork and cooperative relationships among health teams.
• Responds promptly to all communication devices.
• Assists in performing and documenting environmental checks as required by policy.
• Maintains professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies.
• Maintains required certifications; earns at least 20 hours of continuing education annually in specialty.
• L&D only: Must complete documented competency, department orientation, medical screening exam (EMTALA), and three consecutive screenings reviewed by preceptor.
• Ensures hazardous waste is appropriately handled, labeled, and disposed of; receives initial RCRA training within 6 months and continues yearly.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
