Job summary

Trinity Health-ND is seeking an RN for the Clinic, Pain to provide specialized nursing care in an outpatient setting. The role conducts focused assessments, assists with interventional pain procedures, and coordinates individualized care plans to support safe pain management.

You will collaborate with pain specialists, anesthesia teams, and interdisciplinary partners to ensure accurate documentation and timely follow-up.

Qualifications

• Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure.
• BLS certification within orientation period.
• ACLS certification within orientation period.
• Point-of-care certifications as required within orientation period.
• RN program completed with licensure.
• One year or more of professional nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and support pain management procedures.
• Prepare procedure rooms, maintain sterile fields and assist with patient positioning.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures and document vitals.
• Coordinate testing, referrals, and follow-up communications for continuity of care.
• Educate patients and families on expectations, regimens and signs of concern.

Position Summary:The RN Clinic, Pain provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing evaluation and treatment for acute and chronic pain conditions within the outpatient clinic setting. This role conducts focused patient assessments, assists with interventional pain procedures, and coordinates individualized care plans to support safe and effective pain management. Working collaboratively with pain specialists, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary care partners, the RN helps ensure accurate documentation, timely follow-up, and clear patient education. The position functions within a supportive, procedure-focused environment where communication, precision, and teamwork are essential. By maintaining procedural readiness, supporting safe sedation and sterile practices, and adhering to Trinity Health standards, the RN Clinic, Pain contributes to high-quality outcomes and a patient-centered pain management experience.Key Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive assessments, administer ordered treatments, and support providers during pain management procedures and interventions.Prepare procedure rooms, maintain sterile fields, and assist with patient positioning, retraction, and procedural setup and cleanup.Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, including those receiving sedation, and document vital signs and clinical responses accurately.Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, laboratory specimen handling, and follow-up communication to support continuity of care.Educate patients and families on procedure expectations, medication regimens, self-management strategies, and signs that require medical attention.Collaborate with providers, anesthesia teams, and clinic staff to address patient concerns, support care transitions, and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Licenses and Certifications Required:Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure.BLS certification required within orientation period.ACLS certification required within orientation period.Ongoing point of care certifications as required for department, required within orientation period.Educational Requirements:RN program as evidenced by licensure.Experience Requirements:One year or more of professional nursing experience, preferred.Clinic experience, preferred.Special Skills or Training Requirements:May include travel to satellite clinics.Computer and keyboard skills.Special additional requirements:Take call as required for department needs.Assist with set up and cleanup of OR.Assist with positioning of patient.Assist with retraction and limb holding.Assist with efficient operation of the call cases.Practice sterile technique for gowning, gloving and throughout the case.Trinity community clinics draw and package lab tests.Additional special skills required for specific departments.Physical Requirements:The RN Clinic, Pain frequently stands, walks, and moves between exam rooms and procedural areas while assisting with interventions and patient care. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for maintaining sterile technique, monitoring patient status, and performing detailed clinical tasks.Environmental Requirements:Work occurs in an outpatient pain management clinic and procedural environment with exposure to patients experiencing various pain conditions and mobility limitations. The role may involve contact with blood and body fluids, sharp instruments, and disinfectant chemicals, requiring strict adherence to PPE, infection-control practices, and sterile procedures. The environment can vary in pace based on procedure schedules and patient needs, requiring flexibility, attention to safety, and compliance with confidentiality and regulatory standards.
