Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Neonatal ICU team in New Haven, CT. The nurse will be supervised by the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator and will assess, plan, implement, evaluate and supervise patient care on the unit.

The role includes supervising non-RN staff, serving as Charge Nurse when needed, and meeting performance expectations for customer service and teamwork. Requirements include Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred, CT RN license,

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• 1 year Neonatal ICU RN experience required.
• Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License
• BLS Required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the Patient’s physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
• Develops, communicates and documents a plan of care involving patient, family and healthcare team.
• Implements and coordinates the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care and revises as needed; makes referrals.
• Plans for education after assessing learning needs and readiness of the patient and family.
• Functions as a preceptor to new staff.
• Functions as a charge nurse.
• Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self development.
• Performs other duties to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
• Demonstrates competency in neuro patient care and assessments, airway management, tracheostomy caring, and special neuro procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduate Of An Accredited School Of Nursing; BSN Preferred. Proficient In Use Of Computer Software To Include Electronic Patient Records. Must Have Ability To Use Internet For Literature Searches Regarding Care For Patients.

EXPERIENCE

1 Year Neonatal ICU RN experience required.

LICENSURE
