Job summary

Christie Clinic's Hematology-Oncology department is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse – Chemotherapy at the University clinic in Champaign, IL. The role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm with no nights or weekends.

The RN will administer chemotherapy and related care to cancer patients, with opportunities for a sign-on bonus and professional growth. Qualified candidates will have an Illinois RN license, a two-year nursing degree, and ongoing CEU requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Evidence of annual health-related courses and/or CEUs.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.
• Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient.
• Observe, record and report patient’s condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment to provider.
• Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, etc.
• Instruct patient and family regarding medication, treatment instructions and patient education.
• Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using nursing assessment.
• Administer IV’s for Chemotherapy and/or Phlebotomy.
• Perform related work as directed, by coordinator and as required.
• Current ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy provider card (or ability to achieve within 6 months of employment) is required and Professional nursing experience is highly preferred.

You will deliver care to cancer patients and our commitment to excellence and cutting-edge treatments.

Job Duties

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital or ambulatory nursing experience
• Professional nursing experience with hematology-oncology populations
• Chemotherapy administration skills.
• Current ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy provider card or ability to achieve during employment.

Certificate/License

• Possession of an Illinois State Registered Nurse License
• CPR Certification

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances and bodily fluids. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
