Job summary

Southern Cancer Center in Foley, AL is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our oncology team at the Foley location. The RN will provide expert patient care, coordinate plans, and support interprofessional collaboration across the cancer care continuum.

Responsibilities include administering medications, venipuncture, port access, documentation, education for patients and families, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Oncology experience preferred; BSN is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Active RN license and registration with the State Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS certification.
• Must meet continuing education requirements.
• 0-3 years of nursing experience; oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate continuity of care.
• Interview patients to assess health status and medical history.
• Record nursing assessments, interventions, and report findings to providers.
• Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support.
• Administer medications and blood products safely and accurately.
• Ensure pre-authorizations and consent forms are completed.
• Modify doses based on assessments and protocols.
• Perform venipuncture, access ports, and maintain central lines.
• Maintain accurate documentation and apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures.
• Restock supplies and follow OSHA guidelines for hazardous materials.
• Assist with exams, procedures, and patient flow.
• Schedule tests, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
• Triage patient calls and coordinate interdisciplinary communication.
• Support clinical research and act as a resource for LPNs and medical assistants.
• Provide coverage for satellite offices as needed.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain oncology nursing knowledge.

Qualifications

• Education & Licensure

• Experience
  • 0-3 years of nursing experience; oncology experience preferred.
