Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Registered Nurse to coordinate patient care and facilitate case management. The role includes reviewing admissions within 24 hours, planning care with patients and families, and ensuring appropriate post-acute arrangements to optimize outcomes.
Requires two years’ direct care or case management experience, nursing degree (BSN preferred), and active BLS certification.
Facilitates continuity of care by ensuring that the needs of the patients, including observation patients are recognized and address through the coordination with other health care team members to bring about the best possible cost effective quality and clinical outcome. Reviews patient admissions within one working day to determine appropriateness of hospitalization utilizing intensity of service and severity of illness criteria and continues daily reviews throughout stay assuring patient's need for acute level of care.

Additional Job Description Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred with minimum of one year of experience. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. Prior leadership experience preferred. One year of case management and/or utilization review work experience preferred. Case Management certification preferred. Licensure as a registered nurse by the state of South Carolina or compact state required. Certification in Case Management preferred. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
