HCA Healthcare's Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls is seeking an RN for the Cath Lab to coordinate pre-procedure activities, verify consent and medical history, prepare IV access, and review instructions for invasive cardiology procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage pre-procedure coordination by scheduling invasive cardiology procedures and reviewing instructions.
• Prepare the patient for the invasive procedure by reviewing history, establishing IV access, and confirming consent.
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition during pre- and post-procedure periods.
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation during TEEs and assist anesthesia and cardiology staff.
• Provide post-procedure monitoring and assess access sites for complications.
• Educate patients and families on discharge care, medication adherence, and warning signs.

In this role

• Manage pre-procedure coordination by scheduling invasive cardiology procedures, conducting pre-op phone calls to review instructions, and verifying patient compliance with medication adjustments (e.g., anticoagulants).
• Prepare the patient for the invasive cardiology procedure by verifying consent, reviewing medical history, establishing IV access, and performing required pre-procedural assessments and checklists.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in the patient's condition or response to treatment during both the pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure recovery phases.
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation during Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEEs) and safely assist anesthesia providers and Cardiologists with cardioversions.
• Provide comprehensive post-procedure monitoring, managing the recovery phase by assessing the access site (e.g., groin or radial check) for complications, and monitoring vital signs.
• Visually monitor the patient's hemodynamic parameters, physical condition, and EKG during the pre- and post-procedure periods, promptly alerting the physician to any abnormal changes or complications.
• Deliver patient education and discharge teaching to patients and their families, focusing on access site care, medication adherence, activity restrictions, and warning signs that require immediate medical attention.

Qualifications

• Current Idaho RN license in good standing.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing required.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification.
