Job summary

UW Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert care on a fast-paced 23-bed cardiac/telemetry unit at University Hospital in Madison, WI. You will collaborate with the Cardiac Cath Lab and heart failure teams to support pre- and post-procedure care and manage complex patient needs.

The role requires 90% FTE with 8/12-hour day/evening shifts and a two-in-six weekend rotation, along with holiday rotations. Benefits include excellent insurance, paid time off, and tuition support.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months nursing experience or participation in UW Health Nurse Residency on unit/similar unit.
• Cardiac telemetry experience and ability to work in a fast-paced specialty unit are preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork to partner with Cardiac Cath Lab and heart failure teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 23-bed cardiac/telemetry unit.
• Manage titratable vasoactive drips and monitor central alarms.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Support pre- and post-procedure care with the Cardiac Cath Lab and heart failure services.

Pay

Additional components of compensation include impressive shift differentials - $4/hour evening and $4.25/hour weekend differential as applicable for hours worked.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to:

• Practice at University Hospital in Madison, ranked among the nation’s top heart hospitals, and be part of a high-performing cardiac team delivering exceptional outcomes.
• Thrive in a fast-paced 23-bed cardiac/telemetry unit caring for intermediate and general cardiology patients, supported by central monitors throughout the unit and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Provide expert care for patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure, and dysrhythmias, including management of titratable vasoactive drips.
• Partner closely with the Cardiac Cath Lab for pre- and post-procedure care, and collaborate with advanced heart failure teams managing pre-transplant and LVAD patients within a growing, innovative program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Work Experience

• Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
• Relevant RN Experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
• Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
• ACLS within 6 months Required
• Relevant RN Experience Preferred
