Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies, and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
  1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and ensuring individualized care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes.
  2. Relationship-based patient care: Provides patient-centered care that considers population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
  3. Partnering with patients: Uses appropriate methods (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching) to keep patients and significant others updated and to make the patients' goals the focus of the care plan.
  4. Standards of Practice: Practices according to current clinical standards.
  5. Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality care, promotes respectful interdisciplinary communication, and participates in performance improvement activities and shared governance.
  6. Professional Development: Completes all required professional competencies, serves as preceptor/mentor, and models professional nursing practice.
  7. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promotes evidence-based practice, participates in research activities, and ensures compliance with healthcare policies and standards.
  8. Resources and Support: Plans for patient care across the continuum, develops protocols, and supports resource-efficient practices.
Minimum Education
  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor (if applicable)
Experience
  • Less than 1 year, completion of accredited nursing program with clinical hours required; direct patient care experience preferred
