Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA seeks a full-time RN to deliver patient care within a multidisciplinary team, following nursing processes and standards. The role includes planning, discharge planning, and teaching. You'll supervise Nurse Assistants and coordinate with other caregivers.

Ideal candidates hold Iowa RN licensure and a BSN is preferred. New RN graduates may be trained. The position emphasizes flexible, multi-project workflow and commitment to high-quality patient

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa.
• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Previous acute care experience preferred but not required.
• Will train new RN graduates.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and meet department needs.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and evaluates the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.
• Develops and implements patient’s plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills Reviews and updates the plan of care based on changes in patient’s condition.
• Guides and directs patient care activities for the above-indicated population, by utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice.
• Provides daily direction and guidance to Nurse Assistant.
• Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family by assessing the learning needs and formulating and initiating a teaching plan to meet those needs.
• Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and to multidisciplinary caregivers.

• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs.
