Job summary

The Heart Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Universal Bed (CUB) Unit in Plano. This full-time night shift (3x12) uses Telemetry, PCU, ICU, and CVICU care for high-acuity cardiac patients.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Requires 2+ years of cardiac ICU/PCU experience, RN license, and BLS within 30 days of starting.

Qualifications

  • RN license and nursing degree required.
  • BLS certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of starting.
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac RN experience in ICU or PCU.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and create/adjust care plans.

  • Delegate tasks and collaborate with the team to ensure safety and quality.

The Heart Hospital – 1100 Allied Dr, Plano, 75093.

  • Position: RN Cardiac Universal Bed CUB Unit (Tele + PCU + ICU + CVICU)
  • Shift/Schedule – Full Time, Nights. 3x12, 6:45 PM- 7:15 AM.
  • Requirement – Requires a minimum of 2 years of strong Cardiac RN experience in ICU or PCU.

Our 2 CUB Unit is a fast‑paced environment that includes high‑acuity patients. Our leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member.

Unit Overview

2 CUB (Cardiac Universal Bed Model) Unit

Patient Population: Cardiac and Vascular: CHF, Immediate post‑op heart bypass and valves. Care for Telemetry, PCU, ICU, and CV patients.

Patient Ratios: 1:4 (Tele); 1:3 (PCU); 1:2 (ICU); 1:1 (CVICU) Immediate post‑op or unstable ICU patients connected to specialized devices.

Number of Beds: 20.

Department Specifics: Skills leveling, caring for ICU devices (Impella, IABP, CRRT, EKOS, lumbar drain); world‑renowned surgeons, magnet hospital, active Unit‑Based Council.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Ensure patient safety and travel. Manage patient needs. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional to maintain therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to resolve issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create care plans. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem‑solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, contribute to peers’ development, and show community service commitment.
Key Success Factors
  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understanding hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited program.
  • Field of study: nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of starting.
  • Minimum 2 years of strong Cardiac RN experience in ICU or PCU.
