Corewell Health's Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking an RN for a Weekend Only Program on the Progressive Care Unit. The role requires weekend night shifts with 48 weekends per year, plus an added $10/hour weekend stipend on top of base pay.

Inpatient, 24/7 scheduling is included, with opportunity for PTO exchanges and limited holiday coverage. Eligible RNs must meet MI RN, BLS, and ACLS requirements and hold an RN license.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing is required.
• Bachelor’s in Nursing must be completed within 5 years.
• Michigan RN license is required.
• BLS certification with 90-day validity is required.
• ACLS certification required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care per ANA framework across the care continuum.
• Collaborate with Nurse Leader and interprofessional team on planning and education.
• Document education and learning in the patient health record.
• Care for cardiac/vascular patients on a progressive care unit.

We are excited to be offering a Weekend Only Program for RNs!

Eligibility:

RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are included.

0.9 FTE would work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend.

Compensation:

RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay.

If the RN is a full-time (3)12s a week RN, the stipend will apply to the two shifts on the weekend and not on the third weekday shift. This $10 per hour will be combined with shift differentials as well as other special codes.

Scheduling:

RNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. RNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours off of the weekend requirement. This would be given in accordance with unit guidelines with allotted PTO as well as peak times, etc. RNs may request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend. The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday.

About The Unit

6 Meijer Heart Center (6 Heart) is a 46-bed cardiac and vascular progressive/stepdown unit at the Meijer Heart Center. The primary patient population served include patients with various cardiac and vascular diseases requiring medical, procedural, or surgical interventions. This includes acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, post-percutaneous coronary intervention, peripheral artery disease, renal artery disease, aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease and heart rhythm disorders.

6 Heart nurses are skilled in peritoneal dialysis, utilization of Endotool for continuous insulin drip management, and hemodynamic monitoring with arterial lines. 6 Heart is a great unit to grow and develop as a nurse. Our team members gain knowledge and confidence caring for our cardiac and vascular patients. You will feel and become a part of our work family, all working towards the same goal of supporting each other and providing safe and excellent care to our patients.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.
