Job summary

Quincy Medical Group in the United States seeks a Birthing Assistant to provide compassionate, patient-centered support to mothers and families during labor and delivery. About the Role

As a Birthing Assistant at Quincy Medical Group, you will provide compassionate, patient-centered support to mothers and families throughout labor and delivery. Working collaboratively with providers and the care team, you will help create a safe, supportive birthing experience while responding to the individual needs and preferences of each patient. This role is ideal for an experienced clinical professional who is comfortable working independently, responds calmly to changing patient needs, and values being part of a collaborative team during an important moment in a family's care.

Schedule & Work Environment

PRN position with hours scheduled based on departmental needs and staffing coverage. Flexible scheduling, including weekday shifts as needed. No guaranteed minimum hours. May provide coverage for vacations, leaves of absence, and other staffing needs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical support to patients throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period within scope of practice.
  • Assist providers during deliveries and procedures while maintaining a safe, prepared environment.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition to the appropriate provider or care team member.
  • Provide education, reassurance, and compassionate support to patients and families throughout the birthing experience.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and clinical areas to ensure readiness for patient care.
  • Document patient care accurately and maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with providers and other members of the care team to support safe, coordinated care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Previous experience in labor and delivery, obstetrics, maternal health, or women's health preferred.
  • Strong nursing assessment, clinical judgment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately in collaboration with the provider and care team.
  • Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and supportive in a fast-paced and unpredictable clinical environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout the birthing experience.

  • The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $30.39 - $45.59 per hour, with actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
  • Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials and other incentives.
