Job summary

Meritus Health in Hagerstown, MD is hiring a Registered Nurse for our Behavioral Health Unit. This role supports patients on their journey toward stabilization, healing, and recovery, with evening/night hours (biweekly 72 hrs) and a sign-on bonus up to $30,000.

You will provide safe, evidence-based nursing care, participate in therapeutic milieu management, collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers, and document assessments and teaching following regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Current Maryland RN license or eligible for.
• Current BLS.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients in acute or chronic behavioral health conditions.
• Perform ongoing assessments, monitor responses, and update care plans accordingly.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while maintaining patient safety.
• Participate in therapeutic milieu management and de-escalation interventions.
• Build trusting therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and teaching in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Assessment

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients experiencing acute or chronic behavioral health conditions.
• Perform ongoing assessments, monitor patient responses, and update care plans accordingly.

• Document assessments, interventions, and teaching in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
