Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking an RN Assistant Nurse Manager for Orthopedic Surgery. You will work with nursing leadership to direct unit activities during the AM shift, delivering professional nurse care and coordinating patient care with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.

Required are an RN license in Alabama, 18 months of related experience, and BLS; ACLS within 6 months, with PALS as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing with 18 months of related experience required.
• Education cannot be substituted by experience.
• FSED location may require ICU/Emergency nursing experience.
• RN license by Alabama Board of Nursing is required.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days.
• ACLS certification required within 6 months; PALS or equivalent within 6 months if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Direct nursing service activities for the assigned unit for one shift or during Nurse Manager absence.
• Provide professional nursing care to patients in the unit.
• Support nursing leadership in patient care coordination, personnel management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Job Description

To work with nursing leadership to direct nursing service activities in the assigned care unit for the duration of one shift and/or in the absence of the Nurse Manager. To provide professional nursing care for patients in assigned care unit. To support nursing leadership in the coordination of patient care, personnel management, physician/interdisciplinary collaboration and general administrative duties.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Nursing with Eighteen (18) months of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. If job is in a free-standing emergency department (FSED) location, one (1) year of experience must be emergency or ICU nursing experience. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA is required within six (6) months from date of hire to role. Depending on the unit/department, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA, or other comparable certification as appropriate for the age of patients to be treated, may be required within six (6) months from date of hire to role.

Pay range: $36.80 - $53.00 / hour
