Job summary

CommuniCare Health’s Mount Vernon Healthcare Center in Alexandria, VA seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing/ADON to lead the nursing staff and assist the DON in directing the Nursing Department. This full-time position focuses on delivering high-quality, resident-centered care and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current RN license in the state of Virginia.
• Must possess a nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or a graduate of an approved RN program.
• 5 years RN supervisory experience, preferably in long-term care.
• Current CPR certification.
• Knowledge of nursing practices, state acts and LT care guidelines.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Ability to interact effectively with staff, residents, families and the public.
• Leadership, teaching and supervisory ability; teamwork across positions.
• Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret quality care programs.
• Willingness to adopt new methods into nursing practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned unit by interviewing, training & supporting nursing staff.
• Assess needs of new residents and inform staff of new arrivals.
• Make daily resident visits to observe status and revise care plans.
• Interact with medical staff, residents, family members, and visitors regarding resident condition.
• Make daily unit rounds to evaluate functioning and needs.
• Assist clinical managers in monitoring nursing documentation.
• Assist in emergency situations involving residents.
• Participate in nursing on-call rotation.
• Function as RN Charge Nurse if needed.
• Ensure a clean, safe environment and meet resident needs.
• Supervise and maintain resident documentation and records.
• Provide leadership and model company values.
• Perform other related activities as assigned.
