Cleveland Clinic Health System in Akron is seeking an RN Ambulatory - Pediatrics Multispecialty to join a dedicated pediatric ambulatory team. You will provide patient‑centered nursing care in an outpatient setting and collaborate with physicians and staff to support children's health across development.

The role requires a nursing degree, an active RN license, BLS certification, and at least one year of RN experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • One year of recent RN experience.
  • Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting.
  • BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
  • Notify the physician and/or LIP of abnormal findings.
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles within the department.
  • Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.

CC Broadway Akron offers a wide range of pediatric services designed to help take care of children at every stage of their development. From planning birth arrangements to taking care of an active teen, our team of pediatric caregivers provides patients and families with the tools they need.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, once per month requirements will be until 8:00pm. Weekend rotations also occur once per month.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.

  • Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles within the department.
  • Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • One year of recent experience as an RN.
  • Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
