Job summary

The Cleveland Clinic's Richard E. Jacobs Health Center in Avon, OH seeks an RN caregiver for a PRN role within the Hematology and Medical Oncology department. You will provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting, perform assessments, administer medications, and participate in emergency procedures as needed.

Travel within the region to support clinics and procedures is required. Minimum qualifications include RN licensure, BLS, and at least one year of clinical experience;

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the state.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• One year of recent experience as an RN or LPN or related clinical healthcare experience in ambulatory settings.
• Cancer-specific certification or ongoing qualifying education.

The Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology is comprised of physicians, nurses, researchers, Advanced Practice Providers (APP) and other healthcare professionals specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers or disorders of the blood. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send‑off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

PRN role

A caregiver in this position will work varying hours between 7:30am and 4:30pm with potential evenings until 8:00pm and Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm. No holidays required.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
• Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments.
• Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
• Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
• Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
• Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
• Cover other nursing roles within the department.
• Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
• Cancer-specific certification or demonstrated ongoing qualifying education

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
• Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $41.00

Maximum hourly: $41.00
