Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an RN Administrative Supervisor for the Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, AL. The role supports the Nursing Service Management Team, ensuring quality patient care and appropriate staffing across units.

The incumbent will supervise, guide staff, and assume leadership in the absence of nursing leadership. Requires an active RN license with BLS/ACLS/PALS, BSN preferred, and minimum 18 months of RN experience. Oncology chemotherapy certification may be required.

Qualifications

  • Chemotherapy administration certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee nursing staffing, scheduling, and unit coverage to ensure appropriate worked hours per patient day.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff on the Nursing Service team.
  • Direct the Nursing Service Department in the absence of directors and CNO; participate in quality and patient care initiatives.

The Supervisor shall participate in staffing by making the necessary adjustments to provide the needed staff on each nursing unit by observing the worked hours per patient day, staff mix, and acuity. The Supervisor will serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff nurses. The Supervisor has the responsibility and authority to direct the Nursing Service Department in the absence of the Directors and Chief Nursing Officer. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.**Education / Experience**: Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. Minimum 18 months as a RN required. Previous experience in a hospital Supervisory or Managerial role preferred.**License / Certification**: Active RN license required, BLS required, ACLS required, PALS required, Chemotherapy administration certification required**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**: • Demonstrates effective leadership qualities, sound judgment and good interpersonal relationships. • Evidence of commitment to continuing education. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. • Employee development and performance management skills.**Working Conditions/Physical Requirements**:Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 35 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
