Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, CO seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the 5th Floor Acute Care Neuro Trauma Unit.

You will collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care and adhere to nursing standards and the State Nurse Practice Act. The unit is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center facility serving the Denver area, offering opportunities to work across trauma, cardiology, stroke, and neuroscience services.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement.
  • RN License in state of employment.
  • Physical Requirements: Medium work exertion up to 50 lbs, with other lifting parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and chart reviews and intervene to optimize outcomes.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans and monitor outcomes with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in interventions including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient charts; document status, interventions, and outcomes; use IT to support decision-making.
  • Promote and advocate for patient health, safety, and rights; provide patient/family education and assess learning readiness.

Every day you will promote optimal patient health, well-being, and safety through the nursing process, adhering to patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act, and demonstrating personal accountability for relationship-based care and our organizational mission.


To be successful in this role, you will be a Registered Nurse with a commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care, strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to apply the nursing process effectively within a supportive, mission-driven environment.



  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data. Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.

  • Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV’s, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.

  • Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records. Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner. Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.

  • Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.

  • Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability. Provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.


We are offering a $20,000 sign-on bonus in addition, up to $8,000 relocation assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.


The schedule for this position is three 12 hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays.


Required

Job Requirements


  • Associates Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement

  • RN License in state of employment

  • Physical Requirements: Medium Work exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. constantly


Preferred


  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing

Where You'll Work

The 5th Floor Acute Care Neuro Trauma Unit at St. Anthony Hospital, an achieved Magnet hospital, is a 36-bed unit specializing in neuro, trauma, and ortho. Our department is the main service line for our patients that need the care that a Level 1 Trauma Center Provides. Patients are from all age groups (usually 16 years and above) with occasional overflow of general med/surg patients.


Located in Lakewood, Colorado, St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center where we provide a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region through our state-of-the-art medical campus and home base for Flight For Life Colorado. With four trauma rooms including the T-10 room, a dedicated field-to-surgery suite ready 24/7 for trauma surgeons and specially trained teams, our staff can provide life-saving care to the most severely ill and injured patients.
