Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks an experienced RN for the 9C Neuro Trauma Telemetry Unit at Allegheny General Hospital. This full-time night-shift role covers 7pm–7am with 72 hours every two weeks, including rotating weekends and holidays per policy. Union: Yes.

The unit specializes in neuroscience and medical trauma care. You will provide nursing care using the nursing process, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, perform assessments, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current PA RN licensure or eNLC.
• CPR certification required.
• Background clearance certificates required per policy.

Responsibilities

THE UNIT:

The Allegheny General 9C Neuro Trauma Telemetry Unit is a 30 bed unit providing specialized care for a diverse patient population. The unit focuses heavily on the care of patients with neuroscience needs, including those with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, epilepsy, seizure disorders, MS exacerbations, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and a history of stroke. In addition to the neuroscience focus, the unit also provide care for general medicine and medical trauma patients.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Responsible and accountable for a designated patient population for the purpose of providing care based upon enactment of the nursing process.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills.
• Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
• Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
• Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture and willingness to learn.

Minimum

• Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• CPR certification
• Minimum one year RN experience
• 1st preference to employee on current night schedule on unit
• 2nd preference to employee on current unit
