Job summary

Rosenbauer-America is seeking a Commissioning Technician to ensure new or upgraded fire truck equipment functions safely and to spec. You will test, adjust, calibrate, and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, ensuring accurate commissioning and documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree preferred in mechanics or related field.
  • 3–5 years experience in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-commissioning checks, visual inspections, and functional tests.
  • Commission hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems using Rosenbauer tools.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to identify root causes.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues related to hydraulics, pneumatics or electronics.
  • Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities and test results.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technicians for smooth commissioning.
  • Assist in training employees on troubleshooting and service work.
  • Adjust and calibrate components to achieve optimal performance.

This role involves testing, adjusting, calibrating, and troubleshooting various mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to prepare them for operational use.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAll employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.Performing pre-commissioning checks, visual inspections, and functional tests to verify equipment installation and operation.Commission hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical Systems by using Rosenbauer Service Tool and other System specific Tool and Software.Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic systems and electrical Systems on Fire Trucks to find root cause of issues.Diagnose and repair mechanical issues related to hydraulics, pneumatics or electronics.Maintaining detailed records of commissioning activities, including test results, adjustments, and troubleshooting steps.Working closely with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to ensure smooth commissioning processes.Assists in training and guiding employees on troubleshooting, repairs, and service work on complex assemblies.Adjusting and calibrating equipment components to achieve optimal performance and accuracy.Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.Tools to be utilized:Hand tools, power tools, grinders, cut off wheel, and tape measure.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.KKnowledge, Education, and/or Experience:High school diploma/GED required.Associate’s degree in mechanics, heavy equipment technician, diesel mechanics, service technician, commissioning technician, or a related field preferred.3 years of experience working as a mechanic, heavy equipment technician diesel mechanic, service technician, commissioning technician, or a related field required.5 years of experience working as a mechanic, heavy equipment technician diesel mechanic, service technician, commissioning technician or a related field preferred.Manufacturing experience preferred.SSkills:Language:Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.Able to follow written and verbal directions.Math:Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.Computer:Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.AAbilities:Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.OTHER QUALIFICATIONSCHECK IF APPLIESGive Examples as NecessaryDriving- licenseDriving- Own VehicleHours of work- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionallyxOvertime as needed to meet the needs of the department.Travel- LocalTravel- OvernightTravel- Prolonged PeriodsQualifications- OtherEqual Opportunity Employer/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans.
