Job summary

Transforming Age’s Rivers community in Burnsville, MN seeks an experienced cook/kitchen manager to lead meal preparation for residents with various dietary needs. You will help maintain a safe, orderly kitchen and may assist with hiring, onboarding, and staff development.

Successful candidates will have kitchen management experience in senior living, strong communication skills, knowledge of therapeutic diets, and food safety training; First Aid/CPR may be required by state guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Chef/Kitchen Manager in a senior living community or similar setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to prepare therapeutic/modified diets.
• Completion of a recognized food safety course.
• First Aid and CPR training may be required in some jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare delicious meals meeting dietary needs for residents.
• Maintain orderly kitchen operations and food safety standards.
• Assist with hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of kitchen staff as needed.
• Supervise utilities and FOH staff when required.
• Create a motivating, collaborative kitchen environment; support problem solving.

The pay for this role starts at $22.00 per hour DOE. This role does have the occasional Saturday/Sunday shift.

Our Cooks

• Prepare delicious food that meets a variety of dietary needs and preferences for our Rivers residents.
• Help maintain orderly kitchen
• Ensure kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling.
• May occasionally assist with hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of kitchen staff.
• Assist with supervising utility and FOH staff as needed.
• Create a motivating environment that encourages team members to be involved, creative, and problem solving.
• Perform other duties as assigned

What You Need To Succeed

• Experience as a Chef/Kitchen Manager in a senior living community is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with staff and external constituents.
• Able to prepare therapeutic/modified diets.
• Successful completion of recognized food safety course.
• First Aid training and CPR training may be required in certain state/local jurisdictions.
• Completion of a background check. Drug screen, physical, TB test, and fingerprinting may be needed per state/local guidelines.
